Planning Blog: Title design

Image
Working Title: The title of this film is  "Revenge". For my final task, I decided to choose some fonts that were cohesive to my final task in a sense. I chose THIS (Bebas Neue) and THIS (Anton) in all caps. Titles will all slide into screen horizontally and immediately disappear. Titles will leave screen between 2-5 seconds. The coloring for the title of the film depending on the scene will be green and white. All fonts will be mixed. It will look something like this: DIRECTED BY: ALYSSA MONTAS The first part stating the roles will have a bigger font than the names: DIRECTED BY : ALYSSA  MONTAS

Title Research: The Black Phone

Image
https://www.artofthetitle.com/title/the-black-phone/ The movie I chose to do research on is The Black Phone. I found the opening scene of this horror movie on the website Art of the Title.     - What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?     The opening sequence starts with the names of the production companies involved in making this movie. The title then appears in big bold letters. As the opening sequence continues, the actors names are displayed in the same font but smaller size followed up with the name of the casting director. Co- producers, costume designers, editors, executive producers, and producers are listed scene by scene. The movie is a based on a short story so the title and author of the story are included in the opening sequence. The opening sequence ends with the title of the director of the movie.  - What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?     The opening sequence starts with a boy riding his bike and all of sudden a black van appears. Title Research: Get out

Image
https://www.artofthetitle.com/title/get-out/ 1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?  Casting director, music supervisor, music composer, costume designer, editor, production designer, director of photography, co producers, producers, writer, and director. 2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  In the beginning of the sequence the movie showed trees in a forest dashing past, through the view of a car window. The movie then shows the two main characters and what they're doing.   3. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?  The opening sequence staying on a forest and the music used helps to add to the suspense and tension, which will later get stronger once you watch the movie. the eeriness of the forest helps set the foundation for the rest of the movie.

Title Research: Halloween (2018)

Image
https://www.artofthetitle.com/title/halloween-2018/   1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequence?   During the opening sequence it starts with the title "Halloween" in bold orange letters. Then follows with that font for the rest of the sequence. It then listed: all the actors and who they will be playing, who was in charge of casting, make-up FX designer, who the music was by, costume designer, editor, producer designer, director of photography, co-producers, executive producers, who produced it, what the movie was based on, writers, director. 2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? The opening sequence mainly showed a craved pumpkin. The pumpkin was shown short of coming back to life from a rotting stage back to brand new in a way. This pumpkin directly relates to the title "Halloween", as pumpkins represent Halloween and the action of it coming to life gives better visualization. 3. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre

Tittle Research: Art of the Title Website

For the final task project, title design is a very significant factor to the themes and how the genre is portrayed. To get a better understanding on title design my group and I decided to research a website called "Art of the Title." This website has tons of opening sequences to look at.  This website has a very simple layout. The simplicity of the layout makes it easier for my group mates and I to look at the different movies. Which is a great advantage! This website has a variety of horror movies, which is the genre my group and I chose. This makes it easier for me as I need to do research on movies with the same genre to help get an idea on what a title sequence should look like. Unlike other websites this one provides films that recently came out, which is important when doing research. My group and I also appreciates the descriptions the website provides on what was used in their sequences, which will be very helpful when creating our own. This website will make research
