Horror - Get out

Image
• What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?  I will be focusing on the set of this movie. I quite enjoy everything about it. The way that the setting in the movie always makes you feel like you're somehow connected to the people in the movie and equally as scared as they are. When I watches the movie I noticed that when the mood in the movie changes, the setting does as well to help convey that mood better.  • What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like? I enjoyed the acting and the makeup in the movie. The acting was great and I honestly forgot I was watching a movie in some parts of it. It felt natural and none of it felt like it was part of a script. As well as the acting, the makeup was just as realistic. There's makeup being used to show gory scenes in this movie and it feels real. • What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you? I don't

Horror - Insidious: The Red Door

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?         - I am going to base my final task on conventions like sound and lighting. The movie starts and continues with a loud soundtrack of eerie and all over the place music. Also with a loud clicking sound, sounding like a clock. The loud music eerie music creates a sense of urgency and anxiety. With the clock in the background it makes it feel like they’re running out of time. This movie is filmed using darker lighting and a filter to make it more ominous. The lighting and the filter, which is blueish, gives it a darker note and a twilight feeling.  Giving it a sense of being not in if the known of something to come. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?         - This movie had amazing acting. There were multiple scenes were the actors had to act out serious emotions like confusion and sadness. These emotions were shown through the characters actions like talking

Horror - Hereditary

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?         - I am going to base my final task on conventions like lighting and set. The movie Hereditary takes place in the family's house and tree house in the woods. Woods are typically associated with darkness and mystery. It creates an ominous mood leaving the watcher at the edge of their seat. This movie is mainly filmed in dark lighting. This type of lighting adds a darker tone to the film. Darkness is often correlated with evil or death.   What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?         - This movie had amazing acting. There were multiple scenes were the actors had to act out serious emotions like anger and sadness. These emotions were shown through the characters actions like violently screaming, crying, and throwing fits. The acting felt authentic and natural making the audience feel a true sense of fear. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that

Finial Decision: Horror

Image
We decided to choose horror/thriller for our final task. We decided that horror is a genre that intrigues us most and seems to have a lot of freedom in terms of filming. Although all horror films usually have a specific format, the filming tends to vary, since directors try to find anything to catch viewer's attention. We also simply enjoy watching horror films as well. We also find the topics in thriller/horror movies to be interesting and catch our attention.

Genre Research: Action

Some angles/shots that are commonly used in the genre of action include dutch angles, medium shot, long shot, high angle, and aerial shots. Tilt, zoom, and pan are movements that are commonly used in the films. In action movies the costumes are minimalistic, or basic you can say. They usually wear all black, women will wear black spandex with boots and men will wear all black cargos and t-shirts with boots or both male and woman they wear combat outfits.   For editing establishing shots, jump cut, and cross-cutting are used in majority films. Sounds that are regularly used are dialogue, non-diegetic and diegetic. Examples of some actions films are hunger games, divergent, and batman. Elements that appeal to me are the acting and props. As the acting is always well done by the actors and the props in action movies are exciting see, as they would include fast cars, fire, and cool weapons. Elements that I don't like in action movies is the music. In most movies the music is generally

Our Pitch

Image
Pitch A: Group of teens in a small town go to their highschool at night but discover an unimaginable truth. Pitch B: Friends in a group go missing one by one. Discuss A: I wouldnt want to continue making this pitch. I like the idea of the unimaginable truth, but it could be better and it’s a little bit harder to coordinate. The unimaginable truth would be that the principal is a serial killer in their town. This idea is strong for a movie, but one we can’t film in schools. Also, most parents don’t want to act in school projects.  Discuss Pitch B: We like this pitch more than pitch A. In pitch B, a group of bullies start to disappear one by one after cyberbullying a classmate. The kidnapper is not revealed until the end, taking the audience through a suspenseful ride. Pitch B has better potential and getting someone to play the role of the classmate is easier than finding an adult to play a role in pitch A.  My Final decision: Since, I cannot get an adult to play the role of the princip

Final Task Group Blog

Hey Bloggers! Let’s get into the details of my Final Task. For the project I’m gonna be working with some friends. I’m gonna work with Alyssa, she’s in my class, and Maria, she’s in a different class. I’m working with Alyssa because I’ve known her since freshman, she’s one of my good friends, and I know she’s reliable. Maria and I just started becoming close this year and I feel like she’s a good person to work with. This wasn’t the original plan for the people I was going to work with. A friend that Alyssa and I know we’re planning on working together, but they chose to work with other people. It was slightly more out of convenience. Since he worked with them perviously on the music video, he decided to just stay with them for the final task. So I get it, I guess. For our Final Task I was thinking about doing like a horror type video or a little drama thriller, but I don't know time will tell.  The reason why this song was picked was because like those are amazing genre's so

Intro to Final Task

Image
Hey Bloggers! I’m gonna do a little part two of my first intro blog. So I’ve discovered that one of my new favorite color is a deeper red, maybe it could be incorporated into the final task.. I've learned so much more from the start of the school year to now. I'm not even only talking school wise, but I'm also referring to things within myself. In school I've learned to manage things so much better. There was a time where I was really procrastinating and not really wanting to do my work. Don't get me wrong I was still doing my work, but it was such a longer process. I'm just glad I'm out of that little funk especially since I'm about to be staring my final task. I've also realized that I love filming, especially with my friends. Taking media studies allowed me discover that little thing about myself. When I'm filming its just a whole process, not even just the actual recording part. I feel like I'm allowed to be creative and that's fun.
